A ship model of the steamship S/S Bore VIII. The steel-hulled cargo ship was built in 1924 in Newcastle, UK, by Swan, Hunter & Wigham Richardsson, Ld.. Initially the ship’s name was Silverlaarch. The company Ångfartygs Ab Bore based in Turku, Finland, acquired the ship in 1947. It operated on the Finland South American Line until 1952, after which it was reassigned to the Far East and Australia. The ship was demolished in the Netherlands in 1958.

The model is painted in the colours of the company Ångfartygs Ab Bore. The Finnish flag is flying on the pole in the stern. The port of registry on the model is Turku (written in Swedish as ’Åbo’ on the model).
