Forming And Releasing a Webshop With an ECommerce- Platform

This Bachelor's thesis was done as a project assignment within Soprano Ltd.’s eCommerce unit during an internship in the spring of 2013. Soprano Commerce is responsible for delivering a variety of webshop solutions, as well as executing them on behalf of the Soprano concern. The aim of this thesis was to deliver a Magento based webshop, aimed to replace the customer's older website. This thesis will act as a step-by-step description of the webshop project. The customer for this project was Laukku- vakka Ltd.

Laukku-vakka Ltd. was already using a static HTML website, commissioned by a third-part de-veloper. However, Laukku-vakka felt that their website at the time was outdated and thus were willing to upgrade into a new platform.

This thesis aims to cover different stages of the project, from the beginning of the requirement specifications, following the course of the project and inspecting the introduction procedure. The project will not necessarily be covered at its full capacity, due to broad scale of the project.

The source material for this thesis was comprised out of a diverse set of literature, internet sources and Magento’s own documentation. System familiarization and executing tasks within it was done through operation of practical methods.

The final chapter deals with summarizing the entirety of the project. It goes through pros/cons that showed up during the project, the effect they had on it and also suggestions for possible improvements.
