In this bachelor´s thesis is explored ventilations life-cycle costs in institutional kitchen. Exploration is made to part of a kitchen witch is planned to the Kuopios academical hospital.

Two kitchen ventilation ystem manufacturers made different plans witch i compared. Halton Ltd. made one plan where is used Haltons Ventilation ceilig, automatic grease filter washer and M.A.R.V.E.L-airflow control system. Jeven Ltd. made four different plans. In two plans they used ventilation ceilings and in second two they used hoods.

From each plan i calculated contraction-, maintenance- and energy consumption costs. Manufacturers knowledge was use to calculate contraction- and maintenance costs. Riuska- program was used to calculate energy consumption and to simulate internal temperature.

Life cycle costs were cheapest in Jevens hood system. Haltons system were most expensive.

Jevens hood system were cheapest because of their low contraction costs. Halton had lowest energy consumption costs. Jevens turboswing- filter and Haltons automatic filter washer saved lot of from maintenance costs.
