The purpose of this thesis was to find out what the job description of a public health nurse at Kalasatama Health and Well-being Centers health station is at the moment and how the social welfare and health care reform in Finland, sote, has influenced or will influence the job description of a public health nurse at health stations. The aim was to collect current knowledge to advance the field and to help develop and improve the health services. All health and well-being services in Helsinki will be collected in six Health and Well-being Centers in the future. The suggestion of the topic of this thesis came from the leading head nurse of the City of Helsinki Lilli Väisänen. The study was executed as semi structured individual theme interview and the material was gathered from public health nurses (n=7) in Kalasatama Health and Well-being Center between the 18.Jan and 5.Feb 2019. Alltogether seven public health nurses took part in the interviews. As the method of analysis we used qualitative analysis study methods. The research questions were: What is the job description of a public health nurse at Health and Well-being Centers health station and how has sote-reform effected or will effect the job description of the public health nurse at health stations and what development proposals do the public health nurses have. The results show that sote-reform has mostly effected the job description of public health nurse at health station by increasing and facilitating the multi sector and multi professional work and teamwork. Another major change has been the huge increase in phone work. The clients care path processes have also changed compared to previous processes. The public health nurses brought forth that the change in their job description has led to increasing need of expertise and know-how. The public health nurses would like to get more education due to the widened job description. They would also like the digital services to be developed to help them deal with increasing patient contacts more effectively.
