Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli selvittää, vastaavatko Metropolia Ammattikorkeakoulun Apu-välinetekniikan koulutusohjelman Nilkka- ja jalkateräortoosit -kurssin tämänhetkinen sisältö ja opetussuunnitelma työelämän tarpeita. Tehtävänä oli selvittää, mitä valmiuksia opiskeli-jan tulisi oppia Nilkka- ja jalkateräortoosit –kurssilla, sekä kartoittaa mahdollisia kehittämis-ehdotuksia kurssin tulevaa opetussuunnitelmaa varten. Aineisto kerättiin haastattelemalla apuvälineteknikoita, joiden valmistumisesta oli kulunut aikaa enintään kolme vuotta ja jotka olivat olleet työelämässä enintään kaksi vuotta. Tulosten mukaan kurssin opetussuunnitelma ja tavoitteet vastaavat työelämän tarpeita, mutta käytännössä kurssin sisältö kaipaisi yksinkertaistamista, jotta opiskelijat sisäistäisivät ortotisoinnin perusasiat eivätkä tärkeimmät asiat hukkuisi suuren tietotulvan alle.

The aim of this study was to find out if the current Ankle-Foot Orthosis course hosted by the Degree Programme in Prosthetics and Orthotics at Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences matches up to the demands of the working life. The purpose was to find out what skills the students need to learn in the Ankle-Foot Orthosis course and scan the potential development proposals for the future. The material for this Bachelor’s Thesis was collected by interviewing Prosthetist-Orthotists who had graduated not more than three years ago and had been working as a Prosthetist-Orthotist for maximum two years. According to the results of the study the curriculum and the aim of the course represent the needs of the working life well. However, the practical contents would benefit from some simplification, so the students would truly comprehend the principals of the whole orthotics process.
