In my Thesis I will design 16 patterns for Tekstiilipalvelu Ltd. which is a big fabrics wholesale company. My patterns will end on fabrics designed for interior decoration and the prints can be used on home decoration textiles in many different ways. One of my main goals in this project is to design really commercial and popular prints. Trend research and forecasting plays a huge part in my work. My designing is based on my collaboration with the company´s wishes and needs so in this thesis I have also focused on researching and analysing their customer base. Timetable, resources and technical issues on print designing also have an impact on the print designing process. That is why this thesis includes important facts about the designing process and customer-oriented print designing. Observations that I make during the designing process give useful tips about what designers have to consider while cooperating with a big fabric industry company. This Thesis might also help other students and professionals who want to know and learn more about interior prints and pattern design. It also gives important information about how to design patterns and prints that suit industrial production.
