The work consists of two parts. The first part is to compile a mobile application that is used to identify harmful substances in old buildings during demolition and renovation work. Harmful substances that are included in the work are asbestos, mercury, lead, PAH- and PCB-compounds. Information that has been collected for all included substances is which year they have been used, in which product groups they were used and in what places they are often found. All the information contained in the application is available in Finnish, Swedish and English. Supported platforms are Android and iOS.

The second part is a written part that describes the development and implementation of the application. It explains why someone would use the application, although useful information about harmful substances already is available through multiple sources. The work also includes a study with the goal of estimating how likely it is to encounter harmful substances in various demolition and renovation work. It also explains how the collection and grouping of information has been done. Towards the end there is an explanation of requirements for the technical solutions, what solutions have been used and how the realization finally happened.
