From the second we are born, we begin to leave traces. Mental such as memories and emotions, physical through movement and things we leave behind.

The impressions we make on our surroundings define the perception of our being. One devotes an entire life to creating for posterity, another strives to take as little space as possible in history. Our tracks become fragments of a being. Proof of our existence.

In this work, I explore what we leave behind. Through painting, sculpture and installation, I want to issue a reminder of how crucial our relationships are for our existence, that we become through the encounter with others. That the imprints we leave in our fellow human beings function as a kind of existential relay stick, passed on through time and space, through generations.

In the time of self-preoccupation, where we strive to fulfill ourselves like never before, I want to shift focus. It is through encounters with other people that we find ourselves. It is in the interpersonal that existence resides. What would be an I, but a you?
