The thesis was commissioned by UPM-Kymmene Corporation. The work was done at the Kaukas pulp mill in Lappeenranta, Finland. The purpose of the work was to develop lubricating functions in the wood handling area. The first the task was to map out the current situation of lubrication and then create a new lubrication plan. The project was started by cropping the suitable area in the factory. The current lubrication condition were surveyed by walking inside the factory, interviewing maintenance workers and maintenance supervisor and collecting the data from the SAP system. New lubricant quantities were calculated after the survey. Lubrication routes were planned with co-operation of the areas maintenance worker. The new lubrication plan was placed to SAP- software. The final lubricating plan consists information of all lubricants, lubricant volumes, lengths of lubricating cycles and all lubricated machines. The new lubrication plan helps greatly the work of the maintenance.
