The field of shipbuilding is developing all the time and the goal is to produce more ships in shorter time. The main goals of Meyer Turku are cost-effective building and shorter building time. One way to achieve these goals is to develop new construction methods. With new construction methods the building time will be faster and cost-effective.

The purpose of this thesis was to study how to develop construction method for electrical trunks. Measurements and components of the electrical trunks have changing between previous ships. The plan was to standardize the structure of the electrical trunk so that the model of the electrical trunk could be used in several ships. With standardized model of the electrical trunk we can reduce workload in design and field.

The main goal of the new construction method was to achieve shorter building time and to gain financial saves. To achieve these goals we have to standardize the measurements of the electrical trunks. When we have standardized the structure and the measurements of the electrical trunks we can build these trunks with one drawing. Building electrical trunks with one drawing we will save time in design time.
