The purpose of this thesis was to develop an operational model about parenthood supporting through housing counselling to Nokia and Pirkkala Youth Housing Association. It also had to clear out how housing counselling supports parenthood at this moment. Nokia and Pirkkala Youth Housing Association is a non-profit organization, which rents apartments to young people and produces housing content services, for example housing counselling. Nokia and Pirkkala Youth Housing Association is part of NAL, Finnish Youth Housing Association. Every resident in Youth Housing gets personal housing counselling. That offers encounters and an opportunity to interaction between housing counsellors and residents. The increase of families with children at Youth Housing has brought up the need of parenthood supporting also from housing counsellors. Cooperation is needed because one professional alone can’t carry overall responsibility of parenting support. Thesis is based on theories of parenting, supporting parenthood and bringing up the concerns. This thesis is a qualitative research and research method was a theme interview. I interviewed two residents and two professionals. Material was collected from interviews and also theories of Rolematrix of parenthood and bringin up the concern were utilized to develop operational model. Also my own experience as housing councelor was in big part. As a result of this thesis, I developed an operational model to support parenthood in housing counseling throughout the housing counseling process. Based on the interviews, housing counseling has been at quite good level, but supporting parenthood can be strengthen and structured with metodicalness and therories. This thesis offers many opportunities to further studies, for example how developing dialogue and co-operation could affect to welfare of families.
