The aim of this thesis was to create an easy-to-use Word template for the evaporation plant operation manual which can be used in the upcoming evaporation plant projects. In addition, the development needs were surveyed and the manual was developed according to these needs. In the past, the creation of the operation manual was based on documents of the earlier projects using them as a basis for the operation manual of the new project. The work was commissioned by Andritz Oy, Varkaus office. The thesis was started by studying operation manuals of the previous projects and by identifying the shortcomings from them by using standard SFS-EN 82079-1 as a guideline. In addition, the representative of the principal had some opinions about the development needs and so one basis of this study was to improve safety information of the operation manual. Tree species affect the evaporation process, and because of this Hardwood and Softwood versions were created from the manual. In addition, separate Word templates were created from the process description and the functional descriptions of washing sequences as these parts of the operation manual are usually submitted as separate documents to the customer at an earlier stage of the project. The new template is believed to reduce the likelihood of errors and speed up the creation of the manual. Also, the quality and readability of the manual will improve.
