Maatalousyritysten yhteistyö mahdollisuuksien kartoitus : Lempäälän ja Pirkkalan maatalousyritykset

The average size of farms and food imported is increasing and that is why competition in farm products is increasing. The operational environment of the farmer is changing. To ensure his product will carry on a farmer has to adapt to changes and change his methods. In the market where farmers can’t influence the price of his products or inputs he has to make production costs lower. Alliances are one way to reduce the cost per unit. The aim of this study was to find out what kind of co-operation there is in Lempäälä and Pirkkala and how much farmers are interested in co-operating. Also I found out what kind of co-operation there is now and how much there is. The research was conducted using a questionnaire on the Internet. Enquires where sent to 114 farmers and 24 responded. 20 of them were from Lempäälä, three from Pirkkala and one from Tampere. 15 of the respondents said that grain production was their production sector. No one form of cooperation was more popular than another. Respondents where interested in on average 59 % of all forms of co-operation. The reasons for their unwillingness to cooperate were a lack of information, attitude and jealousy.
