In the thesis, the contractor for the metal industry subcontracting company is charting the methods of their welding plant and creating development proposals. The thesis interviewed the staff of the welding plant as well as the managers of the area in connection with the current practices and problems experienced at the welding plant.

The thesis explores the possibilities for developing and using the current operating control system to help receive and store material. In addition, actions were initiated to enable the transition to the 5S method. The measures included worksite planning to enable more systematic and efficient operations and a layout plan to facilitate storage.

As a result of the thesis, plans were created to enable the ERP system to be used in the storage of welding material, and to make the workstations and layout of the welding plant possible for more efficient work.
