The purpose of this thesis is to write a Finnish user manual for Ammuu.com’s Website Builder which is called RVSiteBuilder. With the RVSiteBuilder, the users can create their own websites without any knowledge of programming. The need for the manual has arisen in the company’s customer service.

The theory part focuses on usability, improving it and how to write a good user manual. RVSiteBuilder’s usability problems are also covered. Because of these problems alternatives for RVSiteBuilder are presented.

In the empirical part, it’s explained how the writing of the manual proceeded. It is also pondered how the usability of the program affects the writing process. The thesis also covers the basics of usability testing, which can be utilized in the processing of user feedback. The manual is written in HTML-format.

The usability problems in the program caused problems in the writing process because the user needs to be explained how to get around them. It’s impossible to write a perfect user manual, but by following the best practices in writing manuals, the outcome will be as good and useful as it can be for the user.
