Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli tuottaa PowerPoint-esitys aiheesta Hiil Hooyo -äitiysterveyden edistämishanke Somalimaassa. Työ tehtiin tilauksesta Kaakkois-Suomen ammattikorkeakoululle ja Suomen Somalia-verkostolle. Aluillaan olleen hankkeen tiimoilta syntyi opinnäytetyöaiheita, joiden tarkoituksena on parantaa äitiysterveyttä Somaliassa ja toimia opetuksen apuvälineenä. Teoriapohjana toimi Suomen Somalia-verkostolta saatu hankemateriaali sekä tiedonhaun tuloksista valikoituneet kirjalliset ja sähköiset materiaalit. Hankemateriaali oli pääsääntöisesti englanninkielistä.

Työ toteutettiin toiminnallisena opinnäytetyönä, jonka tuotoksena valmistui PowerPoint-esitys. Esityksessä kuvattiin hankkeen tarkoitusta ja tavoitetta, suunniteltuja toimintoja se-kä kaksivuotisen ensimmäisen vaiheen toteutuneet toiminnot vuosilta 2017 - 2018. Esiin tuotiin myös hankealueen terveyskäsityksiä, terveydenhuollon tilannetta ja äitiysterveyttä. Työn tekeminen alkoi hankemateriaaliin tutustumisella, tiedonhaulla ja huolellisella teo-riaperustaan perehtymisellä. Suunnitelman valmistuttua alkoi tuotoksen suunnittelu ja työstäminen tuotekehitysprosessin mukaisesti. Yhteistyötä tehtiin ohjaavan opettajan ja Suomen Somalia-verkoston hankekoordinaattorin kanssa. Valmistuttuaan PowerPoint-esitys esitettiin kahdelle sairaanhoitajaopiskelijaryhmälle ja heiltä kerättiin palaute esityk-sestä. Palautteen mukaan opiskelijat oppivat uutta Suomen Somalia -verkostosta, hank-keesta ja sen sisällöstä sekä äitiys- ja lasten terveyden tilanteesta kohdealueella. Aihetta pidettiin kiinnostavana ja tärkeänä. Esityksen kerrottiin olleen hyvä ja monipuolinen.

Somalimaan äitiyskuolleisuus on yksi maailman korkeimmista. Myös lapsikuolleisuuslu-vut ovat hälyttävän korkeita. Hanke pyrkii vaikuttamaan näihin myönteisellä tavalla järjes-tämällä lisäkoulutusta ammattilaisille ja kouluttamalla perinteisiä kätilöitä. Tällä Power-Point-esityksellä saadaan lisättyä tietoisuutta meillä Suomessa tulevien terveydenhuollon ammattilaisten sekä muiden hankkeesta kiinnostuneiden keskuudessa.

The purpose of this thesis was to make a Power Point –presentation of the Hiil Hooyo –pro- ject, which tries to promote maternal health in Somaliland. The work was commissioned by Xamk, South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences and the Finnish Somalia net- work. At the beginning of the project several thesis subjects were born with the purpose to better the maternal health in Somaliland, and to be used as tools for education. The theo- retical basis of this thesis includes the project material acquired from the Finnish Somalia network as well as the literary and electronical material gathered from the results of infor- mation retrieval. The material was mainly in English.

The work was done as a functional thesis, and its output was a PowerPoint –presentation. The presentation described the purpose and the goals of this project, as well as its planned future functions and the already actualized functions during the years 2017-2018. The presentation also shed light on the health perceptions, the condition of public health care and maternal health in the region in question. The work started by getting to know the ma- terial, by searching information about the subject and by carefully familiarizing with the ba- sis of the theory. After completing the plan, it was time for scheming and executing the presentation by following the guidelines of the product development theory. Co-operation was made with the teacher in charge and also with the project coordinator of the Finnish Somalia network. After being finished, the Power Point -presentation was presented to two nurse student groups, and their feedback on the matter was gathered. The feedback indi- cated that the students learned about the Finnish Somalia network, the project and its con- tent, as well as about both the mother's and the children's health status in the region in question. The thesis subject was seen as interesting and important. According to the stu-dents, the presentation was good and diverse.

The maternal mortality rate in Somaliland is one of the highest ones in the world. Also, the child mortality rates are alarmingly high. This project makes an effort to affect these num-bers in a positive way by organizing additional education for the professionals and by ed-ucating traditional midwives. This PowerPoint –presentation helps to spread knowledge among the future health care professionals here in Finland, and also among others inter-ested in the subject.
