Tarvekartoitus Kouvolan seudun Muisti ry:n palveluista yhdistyksen jäsenille

The purpose of this thesis was to carry out a needs survey for the Kouvola seudun Muisti ry on its services to develop the activities of the association. The aim was to find out about the services and support currently offered by the association to their members and their relatives or close friends and whether there is a need for new types of services and what kind. Simultaneously it was analyzed whether there is a demand for pay-per-view services. The matter has become topical because the association is planning to initiate its own service production.

The study was a development study that included both quantitative and qualitative sections. The survey was conducted as a complete survey by a questionnaire for all members of the association, either by mail or by an electronic Webropol questionnaire. The results were analyzed by averages and direct distributions, and by the classification of open-ended questions with the same content.

The conclusion was that the members of the association and their relatives are very satisfied with the current services and activities and feel that the services are useful to themselves. The members seems to be very satisfied with the association's current activities. As a new service was hoped support staff and home visits. It was also hoped that support and recreation would be included. There was also a hope for day-to-day work at home and in the facility. The suggestions did not indicate whether the visitor or support person would be a peer or an employee of the association. The respondents were also willing to pay for new services.

In the future, the aim is to keep as many people as possible in their home for as long as possible with the help of their relatives and various services. Challenges for the aging of the elderly are that many of them live alone or relatives are so far away that they can not be of help in everyday life. The need for services is also increased by the fact that homebased long-term care increases caregiving. Third sector actors such as the Kouvolan seudun Muisti ry have the knowledge and expertise of their own members' everyday lives and can thus play an important role in providing services for the elderly.
