Tämä kandidaatintyö on kirjallisuustutkimus, jonka tavoitteena on tarkastella suorituskyvyn analysointia, suunnittelua ja käyttöönottoa pk-yritysten näkökulmasta. Lisäksi työssä on esitelty joitakin valittuja suorituskyvyn analysointijärjestelmiä ja pohdittu niiden soveltuvuutta pk-yrityksien käyttöön. Teorian pohjalta on tehty yleisiä johtopäätöksiä, joita sovelletaan suorituskyvyn analysointijärjestelmän suunnittelussa case-yritykselle.
Asiakasymmärrys on ensiarvoisen tärkeää terveydenhuollon organisaatioille.
The objective of the dissertation is to examine organizational responses of public actors to customer requirements which drive the transformation of value networks and promote public-private partnership in the electricity distribution industry and elderly care sectors. The research bridges the concept of offering to value networks where capabilities can be acquired for novel product concepts. The research contributes to recent literature, re-examining theories on interactions of customer requirements and supply management. A critical realist case study approach is applied to this abductive the research which directs to describe causalities in the analyzed phenomena. The presented evidence is based on three sources, which are in-depth interviews, archival analysis and the Delphi method. Service provision requires awareness on technology and functionalities of offering. Moreover, service provision includes interactions of multiple partners, which suggests the importance of the co-operative orientation of actors. According to the findings, portfolio management has a key role when intelligent solutions are implemented in public service provision because its concepts involve a variety of resources from multiple suppliers. However, emergent networks are not functional if they lack leaders who have access to the customer interface, have power to steer networks and a capability to build offerings. Public procurement policies were recognized to focus on a narrow scope in which price is a key factor in decisions. In the future, the public sector has to implement technology strategies and portfolio management, which mean longterm platform development and commitment to partnerships. On the other hand, the service providers should also be more aware of offerings into which their products will be integrated in the future. This requires making the customer’s voice in product development and co-operation in order to increase the interconnectivity of products.
The power demand of many mobile working machines such as mine loaders, straddle carriers and harvesters varies significantly during operation, and typically, the average power demand of a working machine is considerably lower than the demand for maximum power. Consequently, for most of the time, the diesel engine of a working machine operates at a poor efficiency far from its optimum efficiency range. However, the energy efficiency of dieseldriven working machines can be improved by electric hybridization. This way, the diesel engine can be dimensioned to operate within its optimum efficiency range, and the electric drive with its energy storages responds to changes in machine loading. A hybrid working machine can be implemented in many ways either as a parallel hybrid, a series hybrid or a combination of these two. The energy efficiency of hybrid working machines can be further enhanced by energy recovery and reuse. This doctoral thesis introduces the component models required in the simulation model of a working machine. Component efficiency maps are applied to the modelling; the efficiency maps for electrical machines are determined analytically in the whole torque–rotational speed plane based on the electricalmachine parameters. Furthermore, the thesis provides simulation models for parallel, series and parallel-series hybrid working machines. With these simulation models, the energy consumption of the working machine can be analysed. In addition, the hybridization process is introduced and described. The thesis provides a case example of the hybridization and dimensioning process of a working machine, starting from the work cycle of the machine. The selection and dimensioning of the hybrid system have a significant impact on the energy consumption of a hybrid working machine. The thesis compares the energy consumption of a working machine implemented by three different hybrid systems (parallel, series and parallel-series) and with different component dimensions. The payback time of a hybrid working machine and the energy storage lifetime are also estimated in the study.
This paper addresses the educational hackthon as innovation pedagogy method for teaching fuzzy front end of innovation (FFEI) in higher education institutions (HEIs). Specifically it focuses on the process design and execution. This study is based on the idea that educational hackathons are a specific type of innovation contest aimed at teaching and learning, thus incorporating a set of design variables. Therefore, the paper reports a case study according to those variables in HEI teaching in university-industrycollaboration. This paper presents both the process description along with students’ learning and feedback, i.e. the development suggestions for the method. Presenting conclusions for both academic use and practical design of hackathons in teaching, the paper clarifies the literature of educational hackathons as a type of innovation pedagogy method, for teaching FFEI in HEIs beyond IT-industry.
Patient experience of children, adolescents and their families has been studied only a little. Patient experience is a multidimensional and ambiguous concept and thus, it is challenging to define and measure. Lapsus research project investigates the perspectives of pediatric patients and their families on hospital visits, received care and services, and the everyday life with the illness. The project is funded by Tekes and is closely related to the design of the New Children’s Hospital. Lapsus is a joint project of two universities, Aalto University and Tampere University of Technology, and three children’s hospitals, Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa, Oulu University Hospital and Turku University Hospital. The aim of the research project is to promote that the experiences of the families with pediatric patients are taken into consideration when constructing new hospitals and improving healthcare services. From the scientific standpoint, the key objectives include describing the dimensions of patient experience from the perspectives of pediatric patients and their families, developing methodology and instrumentation for monitoring patient experience and value creation, and linking patient experience data to continuous improvement. The project consists of several sub-studies: A) The dimensions of the patient experience and patient journeys of families with pediatric patients, B) Questionnaires for measuring the patient experience of parents, C) Video diary as an instrument for studying the patient experience of adolescents, D) Photo elicitation method for studying children’s patient experience, E) Ecosystem’s role in patient experience, F) Collecting and utilizing patient feedback in children’s hospital. The research methods developed in the Lapsus project together with the practical experiences gained from the studies, help to understand which issues are meaningful and valuable for the patients and how patient experience data can be collected and utilized to improve the services of children’s hospital.
