The thesis was commissioned by the student café at the School of Business and Information Management of the Oulu University of Applied Sciences (OUAS). The goal of the thesis was to develop an information system for a small business which manages customer accounts and transactions. The final product consists of the theoretical portion along with a proof-of-concept system based on the café’s needs and requirements. The system was developed using HTML, CSS, PHP, SQL and JavaScript. The thesis topic came from the cafe wishing to replace their system of pre-paid coffee cards with a computerised system that would link customer accounts to student cards distributed by the café. Co-operation with the café ended during the thesis due delays arising from personal reasons and the change of staff, leadership, and focus that occurred within the organisation. Despite this, it was felt that the thesis had enough merit to continue using the café as an example rather than an actual client. Losing the client meant that restrictions would apply to the availability of hardware necessary for full system implementation. This has been reflected in the thesis by altering the system design accordingly. The thesis examines the challenges present in software development for small companies. A number of software development life cycle models were evaluated, leading to the Waterfall model being selected. The development of the system was carried out according to the method suggested by the Waterfall model. A proof-of-concept system was created in order to prove the feasibility of the idea. The system created matches the requirements outlined at the start of development. The original requirements of the café were adjusted after the loss of the client. The thesis gave the opportunity to improve as a developer and gain experience with tools both familiar and new. For future considerations it would be interesting to run a similar project with more client involvement and a different development model.
Opinnäytetyön tarkoitus on kuvailla koulukoti Pohjolakodin erityisyksiköiden työnteki-jöiden kokemuksia mielenterveystyön osaamisesta. Erityisyksikköihin on sijoitettu huos-taanotettuja alle kahdeksantoistavuotiaita nuoria. Tavoitteena on kehittää mielenterveys-työtä lastensuojeluyksikössä. Opinnäytetyö on laadullinen tutkimus. Aineisto kerättiin teemahaastattelulla, ryhmä-haastattelemalla erityisyksiköissä työskenteleviä työntekijöitä. Analysoimme haastatte-luista saamamme aineiston teemoittelun avulla. Jaoimme tulokset kahteen yläluokkaan. 1. Sijoitettujen nuorten mielenterveysongelmat ja haasteiden ylisukupolvisuus. 2.
Saimaa ringed seal (Pusa hispida saimensis) is a critically endangered species, which lives only in the Saimaa lake area. Both commercial and recreational fisheries are common in the Saimaa lake area, and gillnets are one of the most common gears used in fisheries. On the other hand, drowning (or suffocating) into fishing gear is one of the most common causes of death for Saimaa ringed seal. Especially dangerous are gillnets for young, unexperienced seals. Closed season for gillnet fishing and technical gear restrictions are in use in large part of the Saimaa lake area to reduce fishing gear mortality of the Saimaa ringed seal, and to some extent restrictions have been effective. For commercial fishermen, fishing restrictions lead to decrease in fishing opportunities and income. As a part of EU-funded Saimaannoppa-Life project, a new type of fyke net was developed and tested together with commercial fishermen. Main features of the gear are a steel bar structure in the fyke net throat which prevents seal from entering the closed end chamber of the fyke net. A further improvement was a partly cover on the fore-chambers of the gear. The modification made it possible to use fyke net in e.g. commercial percid fishery, which is traditionally carried out with set bottom gillnets. Main target species of the fishery are perch and pike-perch, both relatively high-value species. Especially during the open water fishing season, modified trap nets offer an alternative to commercial gill-net fishery. Results of the development work lead to changes in fishing restrictions, allowing the use of the modified fyke net in Lake Saimaa fisheries.
Osakokonaisuuksien tulosten perusteella on muodostettu yhteiset johtopäätökset kuntoutusjärjestelmän kehittämiseksi
