How to combine traditional marketing and social media marketing most effectively? The research question is based on the objective to find the best social media practices for trade media marketing to achieve high outreach and visibility for press releases. The purposes of the thesis are assisting professionals in finding modern approaches for trade media marketing, combining social media marketing and trade media marketing, and lastly recommending effective social media practices for trade media marketing. The objectives aim to achieve the most efficient experience and outcome for press releases, as well as drive and increase the successful results on digital platforms for company professionals, who distribute news, and editors, who publish news. The objectives of the thesis are to create a strong and effective co-existence of long well-written press releases in web and print media, combined with its visualized social media version. It aims and targets professionals with a combination of social media marketing and trade media marketing. Also, it aims to boost the presence of press releases on social media to achieve maximum outreach and visibility. The theoretical framework dives into the strong influence of word-of-mouth marketing for press releases and shows how to use it most effectively as an advantage for businesses and organizations based on current literature. Moreover, it defines target groups, shows opportunities, channels, press release composition and challenges. In addition, a glossary with definition of terms is included. The theoretical framework contains the key concepts: social media marketing, social media news releases, differences between SMNR and press releases, the TARES Ethics Model, word-of-mouth marketing and lastly press releases and their purpose. The outcome of the research is based on a qualitative research, which includes the experiences, pain points and opinions of eight highly experienced professionals and business students. To get a valuable insight into the prior experiences of professional in trade media and press releases, the qualitative research was conducted in form of interviews during the end of January and beginning of February 2021. and open conversations according to investigative questions. The interviews focussed on professional background, information retrieval, prior experience with press releases, opportunities of social media practices, and the impact of social media features. Insights into their work experience and pain points are offered, where also direct quotes and tone-of-voice are analysed. Finally, the result of the research is the five golden recommendation for social media practices that are included in the reflection: mobile optimization, the focus on online presence, channel suggestions, the usage of social media features, and word-of-mouth marketing. The overall goal is to evaluate and utilize social media, its platforms, and features, in the most effective way. These recommendations are meant to lead or inspired by professionals who work with press releases. The goal is to achieve maximum visibility and outreach for product news and press releases online based on the research’s outcome and results.
Neuropathic pain is a major clinical challenge owing to its physiological elusiveness and lack of substantially efficient pharmacotherapies. Previously, it has been demonstrated that the Hippo pathway can be a trigger for the development of neuropathic pain, yet the mechanistic procedure of how this is achieved at the molecular level remains poorly understood. Recent studies have shed the light on Hippo-regulators, Ror2 and Wnt5A which are part of the noncanonical Wnt signalling, to be dysregulated in different models of pain. To achieve a molecular understanding of Ror2 and Wnt5A in neuropathy, expression studies at the genomic and proteomic levels were performed on the different components of the nervous system including dorsal root ganglia (DRGs), Spinal cord (Sp), brain and sciatic nerve (Sc) using the chronic constriction injury (CCI) pain model. The functional role of Wnt5A in enhancing neural excitability was explored by measuring intracellular calcium levels in dissociated sensory neurons. IMR-32 human neuroblastoma cell line was validated for future target studies by analyzing the expression profile of our targets. Herein, the expression of our targets was confirmed in the relevant tissues of the pain pathway. Ror2 immunoreactivity was found in the cell bodies of DRGs and the axonal terminals. We report increased Ror2 and Wnt5A levels in the Sc and DRGs, respectively. It was also observed that Wnt5A enhances the excitation of the sensory neurons. Finally, we were able to identify the IMR-32 cells as a suitable in vitro model for future target studies.
The situation with the pandemic since spring 2020 has substantially changed the entire setting of official international meetings and, as a consequence, meeting organizers have been obliged to react quickly and adapt the already scheduled physical meetings firstly into well-functioning remote meetings and more recently to build whole new strategies for hybrid meetings. The purpose of this thesis is to collect learnings and feedback from the first years of remote and hybrid international high-level meetings as well as to provide recommendations and to develop an advanced framework together with a practical toolbox for successful official hybrid meetings. Recent studies and academic literature on the virtual space, hybrid strategies, team cohesion and environmental impact of remote and hybrid events were used as a theoretical basis for this thesis. The process was inspired by service development and the various stages were described from this perspective together with the research methods. The methods chosen for this thesis include constructive research for building the framework for new ways of working in virtual and hybrid settings as well as in-depth interviews for making the development fit for the chosen context. This thesis aims to answer the questions on what the main challenges in organizing virtual and hybrid meetings are and how these meetings should be arranged in order to make them efficient and a new norm in the international context of conference management to address the recent transformational change. The answer is discussed in the two core areas presented in this thesis: firstly, hybrid strategies with efficient meeting format focusing in particular on finding solutions to overcome issues related to the hybrid setting and secondly social aspects and team cohesion aiming at the relation-building among the meeting participants. In order to bring efficiency to organizing hybrid meetings, the recommendation from this study is to implement a new advanced hybrid meetings’ framework, including a practical toolbox composed of a hybrid meetings’ canvas, checklist for organizing virtual and hybrid meetings and scheduling table for hybrid meetings. This framework and toolbox can also be applied by any international organization arranging high-level remote or hybrid meetings.
This thesis presents the design and implementation of a fingerprint door lock system using Arduino Uno microcontroller. The system uses a fingerprint sensor module to authenticate users and control an electronic door lock for secure access. The hardware components used in this system include Arduino Uno, fingerprint sensor module, a relay module, solenoid door lock and an adapter. The software components include a program for interfacing the fingerprint sensor with Arduino. The system was tested for functionality, security, and usability. The result shows that the system is capable of accurately identifying authorized users and granting them access while preventing unauthorized access.
Water is a necessary component of biological life. However, the quality of water has deteriorated due to a variety of factors especially pollution caused by dyes, chemicals, heavy metals, medication, personal care products, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, and surfactants. Pharmaceutical waste is a global problem owing to its enormous influence on the biological community and has been classified as an emerging contaminant. Carbamazepine is a pharmaceutical medication that is often used to treat depression, PTSD, RLS, diabetic neuropathy, and pain. The quantity of carbamazepine in wastewater is growing as a result of its widespread usage, which has a detrimental effect on both living organisms and humans. Various traditional and advanced technologies have been used to eliminate this pollution, but they all have certain limits. This thesis study utilized adsorption technology in conjunction with additively manufactured adsorbents as a novel approach to purify wastewater. This thesis work includes the fabrication of a 3D printed geopolymer adsorbent utilizing activated carbon and hydrotalcite, as well as the execution of batch adsorption studies to determine removal efficiency and the analysis of kinetic and isotherm properties. As a result, 3D-printed adsorbents were found highly potential in studied application.
Johdon palkitseminen on viime vuosina talous- ja finanssikriisin myötä noussut yhdeksi päivän polttavista puheenaiheista niin mediassa kuin politiikassakin. Johdon palkitsemista koskevien päätösten tekemistä varten on palkitsemisen perusteista, tekijöistä ja vallitsevista tasoista oltava jatkuvasti tietoisia. Näin yritysten on myös mahdollista välttää oman johdon palkitsemisen joutuminen tutkittavaksi lehtien palstoilla ja siitä mahdollisesti seuraava yrityskuvan heikkeneminen. Tämän tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvittää, miten Lemminkäinen-konserni on varmistanut yhtiön johtamista tukevan johdon palkitsemispolitiikan mukaisen palkkatason ja miten sen varmistamista voitaisiin kehittää tulevaisuudessa. Tutkimuksessa tarkastelu tapahtui niin vertailtavien viiteryhmien, palkitsemiselementtien, palkkavertailujen luotettavuuden ja kattavuuden kuin vertailujen lähtökohtien kautta. Lisäksi tutkittiin lyhyesti palkkavertailujen hyödyntämistä yrityksessä käytännössä. Tutkimus toteutettiin kvalitatiivisena tutkimuksena. Tutkimusaineisto koostui palkkavertailuista ja -raporteista, joihin Lemminkäinen oli vuosina 2008-2012 osallistunut. Aineisto koottiin maalis-huhtikuussa 2012 ja analysoitiin sisällönanalyysin avulla. Tutkimuksen perusteella huomattiin, että oikeanlaisen kokonaisuuden löytäminen palkkatason seurantaan oli haastavaa. Jokainen palkkavertailu täytti osittain Lemminkäinen-konsernin johdon palkitsemispolitiikan asettamat varmistamisen vaatimukset, mutta yhtä kaikenkattavaa vertailua ei ollut. Parantamisen varaa halutun palkkatason varmistamisessa vielä oli, parannettavista seikoista tärkeimmäksi nousi johdon tehtävien vaativuusluokittelun tekeminen kaikille tehtäville vertailtavuuden parantamiseksi ja vertailujen kattavuuden laajentamiseksi. Työ sisältää useita tutkimustuloksiin perustuvia kehitysehdotuksia, joiden avulla palkkatason varmistaminen on mahdollista tehdä Lemminkäinen-konsernin johdon palkitsemispolitiikan kriteerien mukaisesti tulevaisuudessa.
Tämän toiminnallisen opinnäytetytön aiheena oli tuottaa itsensä johtamisen opas assistenteille. Tavoitteena oli luoda informatiivinen ja antoisa tietopaketti assistenteille arjessaan käytettäväksi. Työ rajattiin koskemaan oleellisia osa-alueita, jotka ovat läsnä assistenttien jokapäiväisessä elämässä. Itsensä johtaminen koostuu fyysisestä, psyykkisestä, henkisestä ja ammatillisesta hyvinvoinnista. Myös motivaatio ja tavoitteet ovat keskeinen osa itsensä johtamista. Fyysisen hyvinvoinnin perustana on terve keho, joka vaatii liikuntaa, ravintoa ja lepoa. Psyykkinen hyvinvointi keskittyy sen sijaan mieleen ja sen terveyteen. Psyykkisessä hyvinvoinnissa perustana on hyvä itsetunto ja itsetuntemus, hallinnan tunne sekä positiivinen elämänasenne. Sosiaalinen hyvinvointi on kykyä luoda ja ylläpitää terveitä ihmissuhteita. Tunteet sekä niiden ymmärtäminen ja ilmaiseminen ovat suuressa roolissa sosiaalisessa hyvinvoinnissa. Henkisessä hyvinvoinnissa keskitytään omien arvojen ymmärtämiseen ja toteuttamiseen. Ammatillisen hyvinvoinnin perustana on motivaatio ja osaaminen. Tärkeää ammatillisessa hyvinvoinnissa on edetä omalla työurallaan samalla tasapainotellen muiden elämän osa-alueiden kanssa. Opinnäytetyön tietoperusta koostuu yhdestä osasta, jossa syvennytään itsensä johtamisen osa-alueisiin. Lisäksi käydään läpi motivaatiota ja tavoitteita sekä niiden roolia kokonaisvaltaiseen hyvinvointiin. Toiminnallinen tuotos eli assistenttien itsensä johtamisen opas on informatiivinen ja käytännönläheinen aloittelijan opas itsensä johtamiseen ja kokonaisvaltaisen hyvinvoinnin saavuttamiseen. Opas on tuotettu helppolukuiseksi ja visuaaliseksi tietopaketiksi. Oppaaseen on lisätty lyhyitä harjoitteita konkretisoimaan osa-alueita ja niiden tärkeyttä. Opinnäytetyön tuloksena syntyi kirjallinen itsensä johtamisen opas assistenteille. Työ toteutettiin ilman ulkopuolista toimeksiantajaa. Opinnäytetyöprosessi aloitettiin keväällä 2022 ja tuli päätökseen saman vuoden marraskuussa.
