Every day heroes

Collection thrives its inspiration from every-day commuting and Finnish working culture in harsh and cold Northern Europe during the autumn winter season.

References of my personal observations in the research done on public transport, train stations and early rush hour routes.

The way garments are seen more as a tool for personal requirements rather than trying to dress impressively reflects well to Finnish way of dressing when running into everyday life.

Warmth, comfort, unconventional mixes of materials and nods towards functionalism are stressing the way I found commuting appearing in Helsinki.

Silhouettes, heavy adaptation and user-oriented design strive to offer garments for everyone beyond size charts, body types or age groups or anything labeling.

Some garments once donned from this collection will not be easy to wear just in the same way when donning it again for the second time.

This, I believe, evokes more interest and gives a possibility to feel and know the garment better and creates multiple options for the styling.

I try to see what are in common, rated, hated, funny or awkward in the Finnish work and commuting culture and how they are appearing in diverse ways.

Commuter’s history, future, values, attitude, and future plans all might be able to be found from only observing clothes and appearance.

The result of the study is a bunch of personal thoughts, experiments and jokes concerning my research, implemented as a collection of garments.
