Implication of multistage forming on a fibre based material

The goal of this master’s thesis is to develop a new type of a forming method for a certain fiber material and to test its functionality. The research begins with a literary review concerning forming methods already in use and the properties of the material. The method developed differs from used methods with its use of multiple stages. The developed method uses a single motion to achieve its multiple stages which differs from multistage forming processes already in use in the metal industry. The developed method is purposed to use the local stretch properties of the material. Tools for the developed forming method are designed using a modern CAD software. The designed tools are manufactured and they work as planned: the forming is performed in multiple stages and the blank is not allowed to slip under the holding tools. The tools are used for test on different fiber materials. As a result the properties of the tested materials are not suitable for the developed forming method but with further research successful forming may be achieved.
