Condition monitoring makes it possible to significantly reduce maintenance costs of industry facilities. With condition monitoring it is possible to predict when components are going to fail, thus making it possible to change those components in advance, reducing risk of component failures during production. However, equipment used in condition monitoring are generally expensive to install. Because of that, most small and medium sized industry facilities are not able to buy equipment used in condition monitoring. Wireless network technology enables those facilities to utilize condition monitoring more.

This thesis concentrates on studying the usage of wireless mesh network technology in condition monitoring. Thesis studies operation of wireless mesh network in different conditions generally found in industry facilities. Wireless network’s operation is estimated utilizing different parameters of the network.

While wireless network technology is becoming faster and more affordable, it is likely that more and more systems used in industry will use wireless network technology in the future. Wireless network technology brings many longed-for features to industry facilities, such as small installation costs and easy adaptability of the system.
