Implementation model for a change in the way of working for a company in the construction industry

The starting point of the work has been the challenges faced by companies in relation to changing new operating methods into permanent operating methods. The object of the research is a company in the construction industry, which has undergone and is still undergoing extensive operational changes. The company has lacked a planned operating method for implementing and implementing changes.

In the theoretical part of the study, organizational learning and corporate culture have been discussed. Organizational learning focuses on recognizing the existence of an individual's tacit knowledge, collecting it and turning it into visible knowledge. The work has introduced the SECI model and the “Rye Bread-model” model, which has been further refined from it. In terms of organizational culture, the different levels of culture and their manifestations are reviewed. The research has gone through different forms of culture using the CVF model. In addition, the work has delved into the corporate culture of the construction industry, which is strongly influenced by project specificity.

The research part has been conducted with thematic interviews. The interviewees were seven people working in a significant role in the company under study in terms of development work and implementation. The interviews aimed to find out the views of the interviewees on organizational learning and the spread of tacit knowledge, the implementation of implementation work and its inculcation, as well as the importance of the prevailing corporate culture to the execution of implementation and its success.

As a result of the work, an operating model has been created for the target company to implement the results of the development work and changes in the way of working. As another result of the work, a checklist has been created to help developers and implementers, with the help of which better implementation success can be achieved. The checklist can also be used in development projects and operational changes of companies other than the construction industry.
