The objective of the development project was to develop the camp worker process in the Evangelical Lutheran Parish of Tuusula. Part of the development process was to create an orientation programme for the confirmation camp workers and develop the process of collecting feedback from them. The development process was carried out in cooperation with the confirmation pastor. The development process included the entire confirmation work and 14 workers.

This thesis is a development project that included material from a variety of literary sources, such as the official documents of the Finnish Evangelical-Lutheran Church, the guides and documents of the Parish of Tuusula, previous theses on the topic and various books. In addition, interviews, questionnaires and related Internet sites were also used as material.

An orientation programme was created and held for the confirmation camp workers in May 2013. The created orientation model was based on a group format, tailored orientation and group conversation. A confirmation camp guide published by the Parish of Tuusula in 2013 was used as the main material for the orientation. Group conversation was organized as a part of the feedback evening in September 2013. Confirmation camp workers filled in a questionnaire. The development project was evaluated with the help of gathered information and confirmation pastor’s interview.

Based on the results, good orientation should include practical issues and knowledge that help in the starting of the work and knowledge about the working community and organization. The collection of feedback should support the work and help in the development of the work. The camp worker process development should meet these and other criteria.

The development project was useful and instructive. It developed the church camp worker process and managed to create good orientation. The camp workers considered the orientation good, useful and supporting their work. The confirmation pastor also considered the whole developed camp worker process important and useful thing for the confirmation work of the Parish of Tuusula. This development project demonstrates that especially the orientation of the camp workers is useful for the parish.
