The purpose of this study was to have a closer look at the worldof sex tourism, stud ying sex as a travel motive. Prostitution was examined as a significant phenomenon inside sex tourism. A closer look on the subject was taken in three countries: Cuba, Thailand and Russia. The goal was to study the commercialization of sex tourismand the impact of the Internet on its growth. The aim was to consider the subject from Finnish point of view and have a better understanding on this matter. The framework of this work was created using literature on the topic available in Finnish libraries. The lack of literature about sex tourism forced to use the Internet as a reliable source of information. The part of the study was made by comparing different sex tourism web sites on the Internet. Internet plays a significant role of thegrowth of paid sex tours, which was also taken into consideration. The research was divided into three parts including travel motives, prostitution and sex tourism and the Internet. The most important results were connected with the Internet: the better availability of sex tours and the abundant use of Internet among sex tourists. Comparing the three sex tourism countries chosen, the great economical benefits of sex tourism for developing countries and their tourism were discovered. The results also proved that by studying sex tourists and countries, many stereotypical conclusion could be done about the nature of sex tourism.
