Follow-up study of forecasting ability of Keskuspuisto Vocational Institute educational experiment method

The study is handling the forecasting ability of students' success of updated experimental education in Keskuspuisto Vocational Institute metal department. The aim of theexperiment is to offer the applicant a possibility to test the education in Keskuspuisto Vocational Institute and to get acquainted with the branch tasks. At the same time the educational institute has a chance to make better student choices. The aim of the study is to find things that could forecast the success of studies to become. The other aim is to find ideas to improve the quality of the experiment method. There are four main sectors in the experiment: manual mechanization, numerical mechanization, welding and assembling techniques. In addition to these the student's obeying of working hours and other regulations, co-operational skills, attitudes and interest towards the branch are observed. Several teachers are taking part into the final evaluation, which is coordinated by the responsible teacher. The final evaluation is gone through with the applicant. If the result reflects to other branches/educational establishments that could be more suitable, those are recommended. The material of the study are the applicants from 2002 - 2005. The method chosen was tabulation. Based on the study one can state, that the experimental education functions fairly well in forecasting the success in studies. To improve the experiment one can state, that one has to cut the assembling task somewhat, and it must include different kind of demand levels.
