Ongoing societal changes and technological development require changes in leadership and leadership competence and strong propagation in the level of competence. All the supervisory work has been under huge transformation in social- and healthcare sector because of the many changes in operational level and in legislation level.

This development project aimed to promote the leadership skills of Päijät-Hämeen hyvinvointiyhtymä (PHHYKY), vammaispalvelut supervisors by describing the current state and finding new ways to support more remote leadership.

The study was implemented by thematic interviews and Learning Café- method. It was carried out in collaboration with service managers and line managers of PHHYKY vammaispalvelut. As a result some essential tools and an operating model were developed. The key tools in remote leadership are virtual working environment, strong personnel management and self-management for all the leaders. A poster was created from the remote leadership model to support the work of all the supervisors.

To deepen the theme would be interesting to research further the visions and the ex-periences of the staff.
