The topic of the thesis was ostomy, its complications and their prevention. Ostomy (stoma) complications are problems that occur after ostomy surgery which pose challenges to stoma care and negatively affect the patient's quality of life.

The aim of the thesis was to raise awareness about ostomy, its complications and treatment, and thus indirectly to promote the health of patients with ostomy, prevent ostomy complications and enable patients with ostomy to have a better and smoother everyday life.

The thesis was carried out as a functional thesis in the form of a guide. The guide is aimed at nursing students, ostomy patients and their families, and contains comprehensive information on ostomy and stoma complications, their causes, prevention and care products. The guide focused on the post-hospital discharge care of the ostomy patient and skin problems, ostomy fistula and prolapse.
