Tämä insinöörityö tehtiin Metropolia Ammattikorkeakoulussa ja yhteistyössä Uudenmaan Viva Oy:n kanssa osana tuotantotalouden insinööritutkintoa.

Insinöörityön aiheena oli tuottaa kohdeyritykselle IT-infrastruktuurin kehityssuunnitelma. Työn aihe löytyi yhteistyössä kohdeyrityksen johdon kanssa sekä omakohtaisen kokemuksen ja tekemieni havaintojen perusteella työskennellessäni yrityksessä.

Työn teoriaosassa tutustuttiin pk-yrityksen tietohallintoon ja IT-infrastruktuuriin liittyvään kirjallisuuteen sekä parhaisiin käytäntöihin. Parhaita käytäntöjä soveltamalla luotiin yrityksen tarpeisiin sopiva viitekehys IT-infrastruktuurin suunnitteluun. Työssä tarkasteltiin kohdeyrityksen tämänhetkisen IT-infrastruktuurin tilaa tekemällä nykytila-analyysi. Tämän analyysin avulla pystyttiin havaitsemaan muutamia kehityskohtia, jotka lajiteltiin kriittisyyden mukaan tärkeysjärjestykseen.

Toimintasuunnitelma tehtiin viitekehystä hyväksikäyttäen. Kohdeyrityksen IT-infrastruktuuri käytiin viitekehyksen avulla läpi samalla kehityskohtiin keskittyen. Kehityskohtiin pyrittiin löytämään kohdeyrityksen kannalta järkevin ratkaisu, joissain tapauksissa useampikin. Toimintasuunnitelma käytiin tämän jälkeen läpi kohdeyrityksen johdon kanssa. Johdolta saadun palautteen perusteella tehtiin tarvittavat korjaukset ja lisäykset lopullista toiminta-suunnitelmaa varten.

Työn lopputuloksena saatiin työkalu kohdeyrityksen tietohallinnon kehitystä varten. Suunnitelmaa noudattaen kohdeyritys pystyy varautumaan tulevaisuuden kasvuun. Suunnitelmaa ylläpitämällä ja päivittämällä voi kohdeyritys myös jatkaa kehitystyötä jatkossakin.

The purpose of this thesis was to develop an IT-infrastructure’s development plan for the case company. The subject for this thesis arose from the need to react to the growth of the case company and the changing environment of the marketplace. This observation was made by the management and by my personal experience when working for the company.

The theoretical framework in this thesis focused in the information technology of small and medium-sized enterprises and in the literature and best practices of IT-infrastructure. Using the best practices we were able to create a framework for IT-infrastructure planning that best suits the case company’s needs. This thesis examined the case company’s IT-infrastructures present state to detect possible weak points in the infrastructure. The weak points were then categorized by their level of criticality and urgency.

The action plan was made by using the framework created in the theory section of this thesis. The case company’s IT-infrastructure was processed using the framework focusing on the weak points that needed improvement. A solution or solutions that best suited the case company’s current and future needs were introduced to correct these weak points. The action plan was then reviewed by the management and feedback was given for further improvement and the final version of the action plan.

The end result was a unique tool for developing the case company’s IT. Using this action plan enables the case company to correctly react to future changes and growth. By maintaining and updating the action plan the case company can continue the developing pro-cess in the future.
