Digital games are part of youth culture and our daily life. The purpose was to find out the meanings that digital games and gaming give to the youth. Additionally the purpose was to discover how those meanings can be utilized at youthwork.

The data were collected through interviews. The interviews were conducted by using the gamestory- method. The participants told about their gaming through the most meaningful games. These narrative stories were analyzed through an actant analysis method.

Main findings indicate that gaming connects families, friends and people around the world in meaningful way. Also meaningful were the aesthetics of the games, overcoming the challenge created by the games, the new technol-ogy and the hedonistic experiences with the games.

Results highlight that games and gaming are meaningful. Especially the social aspects were important. It also illustrates that gaming can help the youth in their identity building process. These findings can be used in youth work for better understanding of the gamers.
