Ajan kerroksellisuus kuvataiteessa : valokuvan ja maalauksen ajallisuus

In my thesis, I study time in photography and painting. The thesis is based on my works in which I combine photography and oil painting. In the text, I reflect on the ontology of photography and authorship in relation to the art of painting. I look at my own artistry in relation to working with different mediums. I thought about what happens when a photograph and a painting come together and create time in themselves.

I look at the artist in relation to creating the works and what kind of mark they leave on the works, exploring whether the artist fades into the background or lives as a trace on the surface and layers of the work. I also explore to what the creator of the picture draws attention, what they remember, and what they leave out of the frame. In addition to the creator, the viewer also looks at the framing. I study what the viewer sees in the work and what is outside of it, and I consider how the viewer of art can become visible in the work itself and mix it with their world. I examine whether the image lives beyond its edges or stays in its frame.

I am interested in how time is shown in visual art and how different conceptions of reality intertwine in our time. In the text, I pondered the relevance of visual art in the present moment and its ability to open different realities. Visual art at its best is a glimpse into the author's inner world and to the mind from which this world is reflected. For me, art is a means of exploration. The mind, both conscious and unconscious, works like a projector as a manifestation of consciousness. In everyone's inner world, there is something common to all of us.
