Restaurangarbetarens välmående på arbetsplatsen

The purpose of this thesis is to investigate how well the restaurant personnel are being at their workplace and if there are any differences depending on what kind of work they do. We get the answer of this research by investigating single respondent’s opinions about their own health. I also investigate if any burn out syndromes exists among the staff and how different factors affect the mental health at the workplace. A quantitative survey has been conducted at Sokos Hotel Vaasan Vaakuna and Sokos Hotel Kaarle between 26th of March 2010 to 30th of April 2010. The segments of this survey were personnel that work in the kitchen, dining room and in the bar at each company. The result of the survey showed that the restaurant personnel are at very good health and that the physical and psychic burden is not that demanding at the workplace. It became very noticeable that the personnel’s possibility to go on a break is near to impossible. The survey also showed that the exercise-events that the companies provide for their employees are not much in use. The theoretical part considers recommendations about the collective agreement, different employment types, the employee’s obligations and rights, well-being and the burn out syndrome.
