At the beginning of this thesis we find out what’s required for a building to get status of a listed building. The thesis also explains what kind of limitations it causes when existing buildings are repaired and modified protected by the Nation-al Board of Antiquities. Before getting to the thesis’ example of Villa Koski, you will find out about different terms of different types of house repairing. The ex-ample building is a 1874 built timber framed villa called Villa Koski. Thesis sets an example how you get through the operations without altering the structural characteristics of a 1870’s villa. Due to Villa Koski fire in july 2011 this thesis also maps out all of the main areas damaged by the fire. The impact of the fire on the repairs and modifications are examined.
