The city of Uusikaupunki is a small industrial town located in the west coast of Finland. Small town has made to the spotlight a lot in recent years, when Valmet Automotive’s car factory, located in the city has started to recruit thousands of new workers. This research focuses on car factoryworker’s housing needs and would they be interested in moving from other municipalities to Uusikaupunki. Research examines also the need of services in the city, what kind of services commuting workers use in Uusikaupunki, what services they would like to have in the city and would the existence of some service give them the reason to consider moving to Uusikaupunki. This research also focuses on finding Uusikaupunki’s pros and cons in the viewpoint of a possible mover. Data was collected from car factory via electrical survey, which had 271 answers. Results will be analyzed using statistical, GIS and qualitative methods. Most commuters come to Uusikaupunki from cities of Turku, Rauma and municipality of Laitila. Most workers come from the subregion of Vakka-Suomi. Many commuters also come from big cities and from municipalities surrounding big cities. Willingness to move to Uusikaupunki is popular among factory workers with 44 percent of them willing to consider it. They are most interested in detached houses in the suburbs. Factory workers living in Uusikaupunki emphasized on living in the city center near the car factory and services. Factory workers use high variety of services in Uusikaupunki. Only one fourth doesn’t use services at all in Uusikaupunki. By answering the service needs of car factory workers willing to possibly move to Uusikaupunki the city could maybe attract them to move to Uusikaupunki and could benefit from them further in comparison to commuting car factoryworkers.
